Welcome to Laurens Gift

Lauren's Gift is a registered charity, created in memory of our beautiful daughter, Lauren (Flossy), who was born on 26 February 1987, her life cut short on 11 December 2004, at the age of only 17.  She will stay in our hearts forever.   Lauren was in her second and final year at college, training to be a Nursery Nurse.  She wanted to work with children with special needs one day and she also wanted to train to be a counsellor when she was older.  She was very intuitive and could sense when people were troubled or in need.  She had a special affinity with children, animals and old people.  She had the gift of music and fun and could cheer anyone up when they were down.

At Lauren's funeral we asked for family flowers only.    We asked for donations in Lauren's memory, not knowing at the time where we would put the funds, but just knowing we had to do something meaningful in Lauren's memory.

Lauren died two weeks before the Boxing Day 2004Tsunami, and we had fantastic support from a man called Peter Warsop (Trustee), who is a voluntary Victim Support worker. When we found out that he had a connection with a lady who had set up a a make shift music & Art centre to provide the traumatised children in an area of Thailand with a Music & Art Therapy Project, we knew instinctively that this was what Lauren would have wanted to help with. He had helped us so much and now we had a way of saying thank you and at the same time using Lauren's fund in an amazing way.
